DIY mechanic (with qualified friends of course!)

I bought my MY99 WRX back in 2006 with the following modifications:
  • Front mount intercooler
  • Blow off valve
  • Haltech interceptor inline ECU
  • Carbon Fibre Strut bars
  • Lowered using King springs
  • Drilled and slotted rotors
  • 3″exaust

After some research found according to www.drive.com.au that the standard specs for the my99 is as follows:
  • Make SUBARU
  • Family IMPREZA
  • Model Variant WRX AWD
  • Car Series MY99
  • Year 1999
  • Doors and Body Style 4D SEDAN
  • Engine Size 2.0litres (1994 cc)
  • Fuel System TURBO MPFI
  • Cylinders T4
  • Driven Wheels AWD
  • Std Transmission 5M
  • Standard Features Dual Airbag Package, Anti-lock Braking, Air Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, Body Kit, Central Locking Remote Control, Cloth Trim, Fog Lights, Engine Immobiliser, Leather Steering Wheel, Power Mirrors, Power Steering, Power Windows, Radio Cassette with 4 Speakers, Rear Spoiler, Sport Seats
  • Bore and Stroke 92x75mm
  • Power 160KW  (measured from the fly wheel)
  • Torque 290Nm
  • Weight to Power Ratio 7.94 : 1kg/kW
  • Front Brakes DV
  • Rear Brakes DS
  • Wheel Dimension 7.0Jx16
  • Turning Circle 10.2m
  • Compression Ratio 8.0
  • Final Ratio 3.9
  • Tank Capacity 60litres
  • Exterior Length 4350mm
  • Exterior Width 1690mm
  • Exterior Height 1400mm
  • Front Track 1470mm
  • Rear Track 1460mm
  • Wheel Base 2520mm
  • Front Suspension Ind; macpherson struts with coil springs & anti-roll bar.
  • Rear Suspension Ind; dual link struts type with coil springs & anti-roll bar.
  • Kerb Weight 1270kg
  • Ground Clearance 150mm
  • Seating Capacity 5
So with these mods and the standard specs how much power would my my99 produce?

So this rig was quite fun for some years but it eventually lacked some punch. After talking to some mechanical minded friends i went out and bought a VF28 series 5 turbo and a walbro GSS-342 fuel pump. The VF28 is a direct bolt on with similar specifications as the TD04 however gives alot more flow and with more air you wanna make sure you have plenty of fuel!

So once these bad boys were fitted and a tune from TM auto sports 165 KW was achieved. An extra 20KW (or 14% increase in power) for $650, Not a bad improvement!
